Hello again! It's been a long time, but don't worry I'm still working on the game I just had no time to talk about it.4XX is starting to go through it's rough phase were most of the changes takes a long time to complete.
I know most of you don't mind it, but post will take longer to be written and the game will take a long time to be playable. Now that the bad news have been told the good ones are...
I spent months recreating my original UI design in Godot, only to realize it had two big of problems:
After debating with myself how I should change it I decide that starting from scratch as the simpler solution. But that was also a problem as I had no idea on what I should do.
Luckily Google had my back and after a quick search I decided to go with a Hologram style UI.
I even created a new cursor on Blender.
The new UI is as simple as the last one, almost everything uses the same shade of blue, but now it fits the theme of the game much more.
Although it took me two months to implement it, I don't have that much to talk about the terrain generation in this post. Only that now it's based on voxels meaning that terrain destruction and caves will be possible.
I plan on writing some posts talking only about it in the future so for now that's all I have to say.
Another topic I plan on commenting in isolation is how to generate planets.
The only thing missing is an atmosphere.
Those planets will be used to recreate the iconic level select screen from Star Fox.
This iconic screen.
Also I plan on having randomly generated solar systems that you can explore.
A bit of a short post but as I mentioned I plan on writing in depth tutorials on the planet and terrain generation.
